Are You Free? -Day 7

Are You Really Free?

John 8:36 New International Version (NIV) 36 So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed.

I can remember the day my life changed. I was sitting in Bible college a young 18 year old, learning about the true identity of God being wrapped in characteristics of love. I was so overwhelmed with the message, I began to cry. I had never heard about God in the way it was being presented. I had been in a pretty unrealistic relationship with God most of my life. I didn’t really believe Jesus sacrifice alone could save me or that his blood was enough. I thought I had to receive Christ and also find a way to be perfect. I spent many days overwhelming myself with unnecessary pressure. Not realizing the height, width, and depth of Gods immense love for me. I wasn’t created to live a life constantly dissatisfied with myself, and focused on not doing wrong. He did not die in order for us to be imprisoned by self-righteousness and oppression. Heaven wasn’t in my heart it was a place I felt I had to earn. This wasn’t the Christian life God had for me or for any believer. This message effected me so much that day in class because it stripped away all of the heaviness I carried my entire life. I became a better Christian, a better friend, sister, and daughter after this awakening. I was free to love others in a better way because I finally caught a glimpse of the fathers overwhelming, never-ending love. Many Christians won’t admit they’ve been in this type of relationship with God as well. We don’t think His sacrifice is enough because we’ve been taught that once we’re saved we are on a life-long journey to be holy. What we don’t realize is, if that was the case God would not have sent His son to die! Jesus was the complete sacrifice for us. We are made holy in Him and nothing can take that gift away once we accept it. When we accept his sacrifice He covers our sins of the past, present, and future. We are no longer slaves to sin. Freedom to live a life for Christ out of love, not fear is available to us. The freedom to allow God to love us without condemnation, guilt, or shame is our free gift. We are free to see ourselves as God sees us, perfected in him.

Are you really free? Yes! Believe it today.

The Run Down:

Romans 3:11 So it is clear that no one can be made right with God by trying to keep the law. For the Scriptures say, “It is through faith that a righteous person has life.”

Faith is Jesus , if you have him you have life!

Colossians 3:26-29

26 For you are all children[m] of God through faith in Christ Jesus. 27 And all who have been united with Christ in baptism have put on Christ, like putting on new clothes.[n] 28 There is no longer Jew or Gentile,[o] slave or free, male and female. For you are all one in Christ Jesus. 29 And now that you belong to Christ, you are the true children[p] of Abraham. You are his heirs, and God’s promise to Abraham belongs to you.

You are not enslaved to perfection in and of yourself!

Romans 3: 21-22

21 But now God has shown us a way to be made right with him without keeping the requirements of the law, as was promised in the writings of Moses[i] and the prophets long ago. 22 We are made right with God by placing our faith in Jesus Christ. And this is true for everyone who believes, no matter who we are.

You are not condemned!

Romans 8:1

So now there is no condemnation for those who belong to Christ Jesus. 2 And because you belong to him, the power[a] of the life-giving Spirit has freed you[b]from the power of sin that leads to death.

Nothing can separate you from the love of God!

Romans 8:35-37

35 Can anything ever separate us from Christ’s love? Does it mean he no longer loves us if we have trouble or calamity, or are persecuted, or hungry, or destitute, or in danger, or threatened with death? 36 (As the Scriptures say, “For your sake we are killed every day; we are being slaughtered like sheep.”[a]) 37 No, despite all these things, overwhelming victory is ours through Christ, who loved us.

Freedom is yours today! The Lord desires for you to be free in order for you to live your best life for him. YOU can only give to others what you, yourself have. Only a free person can go into the world a free others who are in desperate need of saving. God reconciled us back to him-through his son because he loved us so much. When you are freed by his saving grace, and are filled with his love you will be able to pour that same love into the lives of others! Accept your freedom.

Be Encouraged!
